Obama Speech Analysis
I thought Obama's speech was, as always, very clear and concise. He speaks in a very fluid manner and words seem to form clauses within themselves that help his whole speech to flow and be coherent. Obama emphasizes the word "you" quite a bit. I believe he does this in order to make a point that the speech is spoken directly at each individual person and definitely helps get his point across. He uses short, concise, quickly spoken sentences to add power and impact on each one of his sentences, which is definitely something Obama likes to do regularly in his public speeches. The inflection in his voice definitely wavers quite a bit as he builds suspense and comes to an almost climatic ending at the end of his speech when he encourages students all across the country to have a great school year and be the best they can be in order to help America succeed. His presence when he speaks just simply exudes confidence in every way, and he is very comfortable in front of large crowds. He is dressed appropriately which definitely makes him seem more credible as well. He chooses his vocabulary very specifically to fit the situation, which is addressing high school students, with words such as "ethics" and "invent", which definitely are positive words and help give the speech an optimistic air about it. Obama is definitely a very gifted speaker, and as analysis provides, he is a very effective one as well.
