Process Analysis
My topic was freedom. Freedom is an extremely broad topic, ranging from support to opposition and from deeply personal to universal. I chose to do my visual argument on why freedom is needed in our world because in our society freedom is just tossed around, while few in America realize that we have a great luxury. All around the world, people just like us are struggling each and every day because they are not free. Whether they are oppressed by their government, their religion, or even just their family, citizens of the world do not enjoy freedom like we do. Freedom is a necessary right that all people on this planet are entitled to, and that is what I did my visual argument on. I used images that show the true importance of freedom, and why freedom is needed in our world today.
My first image is the freedom wordle, which helps set the stage for the rest of the argument by showing freedom is universal, and all the other words and feelings we associate with it. My second image is the word “why”, which I included because I am asking the viewer’s why freedom is necessary, so it provides some thought provoking possibilities. My third image is barbed wire with the words Freedom Now underneath it. This image is included because it plays directly off the why in the image before, fulfilling the question I wanted to ask of Why Freedom Now? My fourth image is the word because. I simply included this as a transition from the question to an answer to the question. My fifth image is a definition of freedom that really encompasses not only why freedom is important, but solidifies the idea in our heads, which helps the argument become more successful. My sixth image is an eagle. I included this image because the eagle instills a sense of freedom and limitless boundaries to us, and invokes strong patriotic feelings, which in turn are associated with freedom.
My seventh image is a statue on a hill with a sunset in the background. This image symbolizes the embodiment of freedom in an inanimate form, a stoic statue standing along on a hill top, free and unburdened by society. My eighth image is a women holding up a sign that says freedom, and this is included to show that when people’s freedoms are repressed, they will rebel and demand what is rightfully theirs. My ninth image is of the soldiers at Iwo Jima, fighting for our nation’s freedom. This symbolizes that freedom does not come without a price, however, and once you receive freedom it is not to be taking for granted. My tenth image is a U.S. soldier smiling at a liberated child. Even though this child may not realize what has happened, it is in human nature to recognize being free, and this child realizes that and is overjoyed with that idea, which helps my argument by showing that freedom appeals to everyone, no matter age or race or language. My eleventh image is a drawing of a man standing on a hill looking at a new planet. This image symbolizes that human beings will never stop looking for ways to expand what they already have, and if you are not free, you have no possibility of escaping to a better place. My twelfth image is the Statue of Liberty. The statue truly shows what every person wants in their life, opportunity. Opportunity only comes through freedom, and America is the definition of being free and able to decide what you want for yourself.
I put my images in their specific order so that the most powerful images come at the end, and the beginning images answer my question. My music is Free Falling by Tom Petty, and it really helps make the whole argument go together better. My entire project is intended to make the audience understand that freedom is an important and necessary part of life, and everyone deserves it.

Drifting
I love drifting. Its as simple as that. As much as I hate snow, my love of drifting overcomes it every year. I cant say I was sad to not have any snow for Christmas, it was not as cold and a lot less nasty. However, when it did snow on New Years Eve, I can also say that I was happy it was snowing because I would finally be able to drift. I drift my car around anything I can possibly do. Corners, parking lots, the friendly neighborhood culdesac, nothing is safe from me. Yesterday, I may have had one of the coolest drifts of all time. I was driving around a corner in my neighborhood and just couldn't control my urge to drift. I ripped the e-brake and turned the wheel, watching a monster wave of snow fly out from underneath my car. It was perfect. I drifted right into my lane around the corner and accelerated, watching the masterpiece unfold. I don't know if I have ever done a drift better than that, but it was in the top 2 or 3 for sure. That is really the only reason I like snow. Also, I apologize to all those drivers who have been behind me while I've drifted. Maybe you shouldn't have been tailgating my ass so hard and you wouldn't have gotten a windshield full of snow? Just something to think about.
